Old illustrated geographical map of Provence and Corsica by O. Poisson - ca. 1950

This illustrated geographical map, titled "Provence & Corsica," was created by O. Poisson. It presents the Provence region and the island of Corsica in a pictorial manner. The illustration style is very colorful and highlights the main cities, tourist sites, and major geographical features of both regions. The map of Provence extends from the Arles region and the Camargue to the French Riviera, including cities such as Marseille. The details show the coastal geography, the Rhône River, as well as stylized representations of characteristic features of the region such as bulls in the Camargue or castles. The area around Marseille, including the Rade de l'Estaque and the islands of Ratoneau and Château d'If, is represented with a ship and colored reliefs. Corsica is also detailed with its main localities, mountainous reliefs, and coastline. Cities such as Bastia, Calvi, Ajaccio, Sartène, and Corte are highlighted with drawings of monuments or landscapes. The map is both decorative and informative about geography and places of interest. The map measures 84 cm by 64 cm.
