This historical poster, titled "Revolutions in Latin America," is a composition by Marcel Ichac dating from the 1930s. Produced in sepia tones, it paints a striking panorama of the political instability in Central and South America at that time. Rather than a traditional geographical map, it is a pictorial work that illustrates with expressive drawings the crises, dictatorships, insurrections, and coups that shook each country. From the Calles dictatorship in Mexico to the Chaco conflict between Bolivia and Paraguay, by way of the coffee crisis in Brazil, each event is summarized by a short caption and an evocative illustration. It is a rare graphic document that offers a synthetic and engaged look at the continent's tormented history. The map measures 36 cm by 27 cm.
