This pictorial tourist map of Brussels, entitled "Map of Brussels," is a characteristic work by the Belgian graphic designer Lucien De Roeck (signed lower right). Created around 1950, this poster offers an artistic and colorful vision of the Belgian capital, highlighting its main monuments and parks. The city center is depicted with a high level of detail, where each notable building is drawn in perspective. On the left, a blue cartouche lists 40 points of interest, including the Grand-Place, the Manneken Pis, and various museums. The city's outskirts are dotted with illustrations of castles (Gaesbeek, Huysinghen) and parks (Bois de la Cambre). A stylized compass rose in the shape of a colored star indicates directions to Paris, Mons, and Halle. De Roeck's style is recognizable by its modern and dynamic lines, as well as the use of flat areas of bright color, which give this map a decidedly retro feel. The map measures 53 cm by 37 cm.
